RESEDA : Burglar Ordered to Clean Up Freeways
- Share via
A Reseda man was ordered Monday to spend 45 days cleaning up freeways after admitting in court that he burglarized a liquor store, then called 911 for help in getting out.
The sentence was imposed after Robert Laughton, 23, pleaded no contest in Van Nuys Municipal Court to misdemeanor burglary in the March 1 break-in at Rick’s Liquor.
Commissioner Mitchell Block also placed Laughton on 24 months unsupervised probation, ordered him to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and scheduled an April 27 hearing to determine what restitution, if any, Laughton should make to the Reseda liquor store.
Police said Laughton climbed through a rooftop vent and dropped into the store. He called for help when he could not get out.
