Nation IN BRIEF : IDAHO : Alzheimer’s Patient Abandoned at Track
An elderly man with Alzheimer’s disease was abandoned at Coeur d’Alene Greyhound Park in Post Falls, Ida., sitting in a wheelchair with a brief note and a bag of diapers. He was dressed in a sweat suit, slippers and a baseball cap with the slogan “Proud to be American,” but authorities had few other clues to his identity. Labels were missing from the man’s clothing and the wheelchair, police Detective Harlen Fritsche said. A typed note pinned to the chair identified the man as “John King” and said he has Alzheimer’s. Authorities said that abandonment charges may be filed if relatives are found.
