WESTMINSTER : Robbery Suspect Seized Near Mall
A Garden Grove man who may have robbed other Orange County banks was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a bank at gunpoint and ran into Westminster Mall, police said.
Hai Van Lo, 27, was arrested on suspicion of robbery after police officers found him hiding in bushes near the San Diego Freeway on the north side of the mall, police said.
Police and FBI agents were trying to determine whether Lo was responsible for about six bank robberies in Huntington Beach. There were no reported injuries, police said.
A gunman entered Home Bank at Bolsa Avenue and Edwards Street about 11:53 a.m. Tuesday, Lt. Rick Main said. When police responded to the robbery, officers said a man fitting Lo’s description ran out of the bank and north into the Westminster Mall, Main said. Police then found Lo in the bushes, Main said.
Lo was booked into County Jail.
