The Case Stands: A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has refused to drop the invasion of privacy portion of a $25-million lawsuit against a tabloid newspaper filed by rock singer Rod Stewart and his wife. Attorneys for the Canadian tabloid News Extra argued that the allegation was redundant because the lawsuit alleges libel. The lawsuit involves a July 2, 1991, cover story that claimed Stewart, 47, had extramarital affairs with the blessing of his wife, swimsuit model Rachel Hunter Stewart, 22. The story, which claimed to quote Hunter, was published about six months after she married the singer.
