Iraq

While President Bush is contemplating “a philosophical decision” to strike Iraq (March 19), he should ask himself why the United States is the only country supplying the military muscle for the United Nations’ decision. Why not let other nations such as Britain, France and Germany take the lead in initiating another strike? Will the U.N. shoulder the cost of this decision or will the American taxpayers have to do it?

In a new world order, is not the United States supposed to be “a kinder, gentler nation” with all countries being equal? These are important questions to ask and let us hope that the answers are not dependent on this being an election year.
