WORLD IN BRIEF : RUSSIA : Hijackers Seize Bus, Demand Iraq Flight

Hijackers armed with submachine guns and grenades seized a bus with 18 passengers in southern Russia, drove to an airport and demanded a flight to Iraq, the Itar-Tass news agency reported. The hijackers commandeered the bus in the town of Lermontov and drove about nine miles to the airport at Mineralnye Vody, 830 miles south of Moscow. Hostage negotiators from Moscow were expected to arrive early today. The number of hijackers was unknown.
