ANTELOPE VALLEY : Flood-Damage Claims Filed
Quartz Hill homeowners who say they suffered more than $150,000 in flood damage during the February storms have filed claims with Lancaster and Palmdale, officials in both cities said Friday.
Lancaster received seven claims totaling $66,000, and Palmdale received 13 claims totaling $90,500.
The claims were primarily from residents who said their houses were flooded after the embankment of an 11-acre water basin collapsed, sending 10 million to 20 million gallons of water through the center of the unincorporated Quartz Hill community Feb. 12.
The claims list water and mud damage to carpeting, drapes, appliances, driveways and landscaping. Committees in both cities are expected to review the claims next month, officials said.
