Glendale : Redevelopment Group OKd
The Redevelopment Agency on Tuesday approved formation of a 15-member advisory committee to oversee plans for a proposed redevelopment zone.
The agency certified 11 members, all representatives of businesses and community groups elected at an area meeting in February. Four volunteers to represent homeowners and residential tenants are being sought.
The volunteer committee will recommend ways to revitalize properties in a 700-acre redevelopment zone to be formed later this year in a largely industrial area along San Fernando Road. The city’s goal is to develop a transportation hub for commuters along the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks and to increase industrial employment in the city.
Area residents who wish to serve on the committee should contact Ruth Martinez at the redevelopment office, (818) 548-2005.
