Erik Affholter, a former Oak Park High and USC standout wide receiver whose career with the Green Bay Packers was curtailed by injuries, has signed with the San Diego Chargers as a Plan B free agent, the NFL team announced Wednesday.

Affholter, a 1989 fourth-round draft choice, spent his first two seasons on injured reserve because of ankle and hamstring injuries. He also began the 1991 season on injured reserve but caught seven passes for 68 yards in the Packers’ final four games.
