Interim CEO Named to Run Gateway While Predecessor Recovers

Share

Patrick F. Cadigan has been selected chairman, president and chief executive officer of Gateway Communications while his predecessor, Donald F. Brosnan, recovers from an illness.

Cadigan has been a director of the Irvine-based telecommunications company for more than five years. He also has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Technology Marketing Inc. in Irvine. He also was chairman of Linear Instruments Corp., an Irvine manufacturer of liquid chemical products that is now part of Ciba-Geighy Corp.; and president and chief executive officer of EECO Inc., a Santa Ana manufacturer of computer systems.

Last month, Brosnan was diagnosed as having Guillain-Barre syndrome, preventing him from managing the company full time. The disease, which causes nerve damage and paralysis, usually is only temporary but can take several months or longer for recovery. He had taken his post at Gateway in January after seven years on the company’s board of directors.

Company officials said Brosnan is expected to resume the duties of chief executive officer when he recovers.
