Howard Mull; Former Antonovich Aide

Howard Mull, retired special deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, has died at his Glendale home. He was 59.

Mull died Tuesday of cancer, said his wife, Marie Mull.

Born in Cartersville, Ga., Mull served with the Navy during the Korean War. After his discharge, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1954, serving as an accident investigator until suffering an injury on the job.

In 1964, Mull started a private investigation consulting business whose clients included former U. S. Sen. Thomas Kuchel (R-Calif.).

In 1981, Mull was hired by newly elected Antonovich as a special assistant dealing mainly with county departments. Mull retired in 1987 as a special deputy.

In addition to his wife of 28 years, Mull is survived by his son, Michael Mull of Glendale; daughters, Sherri Mull of Anaheim and Leesa Mull of Westwood; parents, Edward and Mary Gilsdorf of Downey, and one grandson.

Visitation is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Faith Chapel, Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Hollywood Hills. A funeral, with burial to follow, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park.
