Iran Begins Campaign

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
The campaign for next week’s parliamentary election in Iran was officially launched Thursday, with hard-liners matched against reformist President Hashemi Rafsanjani.
The April 10 election for 270 parliamentary seats is significant because it is expected to determine whether Rafsanjani’s economic and foreign policy reforms will be speeded up, or whether the country will return to fundamentalism.
