News Corp. and TCI in Cable TV Deal: News Corp. and Tele-Communications Inc. plan to acquire a majority interest in Reiss Media Enterprises Inc.--a pay-per-view, programming and distribution company--for an undisclosed sum. Reiss will also become sole owner of the pay-per-view networks Request Television and Request 2, by buying out Group W Satellite Communications’ 50% interest. The deal represents News Corp.’s and TCI’s first foray into pay-per-view.
