An El Cajon aerospace manufacturing firm will pay $65,000 to settle a lawsuit that charged the company with dumping 3,000 gallons of chemicals into a storm drain last year, the district attorney’s office announced Friday.

Under the terms of the civil suit settlement, Ketema Inc. agreed to pay $35,000 in penalties and make a $30,000 donation to the state Department of Fish and Game Pollution Abatement Account for the Aug. 25 spill of cooling tower chemical additives containing sodium nitrate and sodium molybdate.

The suit filed in San Diego Superior Court alleged that the company failed to properly train its employees to act in the event of a spill, did not have an adequate warning system and lacked a spill containment device.
