Baldwin Park : Recycle Plant Permit Denied
The City Council on Wednesday unanimously denied a permit for a recycling plant in the Baldwin Commerce Center industrial park.
The center, where such recycled materials as plastic bottles and aluminum cans would be sorted and compacted for resale, was proposed by Waste Management Inc.
More than 200 residents at Wednesday’s council meeting protested the recycling center, saying they feared odors and vermin.
Mike Muller, general manager of Waste Management, said he was not surprised that the center was rejected because it was a sensitive issue coming before the council less than two weeks before a municipal election.
