No-Smoking Plan
Enough is enough!
Pasadena City Councilperson Jess Hughston’s intolerant and dogmatic anti-smoker attitude should not become a Pasadena city ordinance. Such government actions have never solved problems. Rather, they have created much worse problems.
Nearly all Pasadena restaurants have already set aside separate areas for smokers and nonsmokers. In fact, several good Pasadena eateries have voluntarily declared themselves to be fully nonsmoking establishments. This is true freedom of choice on the part of restaurants and their patrons.
Jess Hughston’s hyper-zealous, anti-smoker crusade shows a lack of tolerance one would not expect from a former teacher. As such, Mr. Hughston might recall the words of British physician Sir William Osler: “The greater the ignorance, the greater the dogmatism.”
