Term Limits Eject the Good Officials Along With Bad

Re “Term-Limitation Measures Go Local” (editorial, March 28): At first glance, it would appear that imposing term limitations on our legislators may keep them more in touch with their constituents’ needs. On further reflection, I began to realize that such measures may actually accomplish precisely the opposite by pushing them to enact legislation favorable to their own future interests.

Since the speaker of each legislative body or chairman of each committee often wields significant power in getting legislation passed, I believe limiting the terms of such posts would be a more logical approach.

There are some legislators who are honest and capable, and we should not throw out the whole bushel simply because there are some bad apples in it.
