DON’T JUMP THE PLUMP

Thank you for your blatant contribution to one of America’s favorite pastimes: fat bashing (Overheard, Palm Latitudes, March 1). It must be important that we ridicule, insult and generally malign our fellow men and women to promote harmony and understanding.

However, if all the people that society considered too fat, too tall, too short, too dark, too pale, too ethnic, too whatever, stopped subscribing to The Times, you would only have a handful of the beautiful people left. And if they were like the people in your article, they’d be too busy looking in mirrors, shopping for trendy clothes and, well, verbally abusing the not-so-perfect to have time to read any newspaper.
