MISSION VIEJO : Hearing Is Today on Plan for Home Store

Share

Plans for a 120,000-square-foot home-improvement center will be scrutinized by the Planning Commission today.

At a public hearing, city staff will recommend the approval of a Home Depot store on 9.7 acres on Marguerite Parkway between Crown Valley and Avery parkways.

The store site is at the foot of a hill about 80 feet below heavily traveled Marguerite Parkway, and city planners expect the development to have minimal visual impact on a residential neighborhood on the opposite side of the street.

A local homeowners association has objected to the project, claiming that the center would generate too much traffic, noise and light.

The Hillcrest Community Assn., one of the neighborhoods across the street from the development, has asked the city to reject the Home Depot store. Homeowners want to see a scaled-down development plan for the site.
