Jerry Brown’s Flat Tax Plan

Share

I just received my tax return from my preparer. I took my gross income that is on this form and subtracted everything that would be exempt in Brown’s tax proposal (mortgage, charities); my taxable income would come out $11,400 higher than it is under current tax laws. With his 13% flat tax, my tax would be $1,225 higher than I paid this year due to the loss of a lot of important exemptions such as child care, medical, union dues, standard deductions, job tools, auto license, etc. I made between $30,000 and $45,000 last year.

If you think Brown’s tax is good, then refigure your taxes under his proposal. I think you’ll find otherwise, especially if you have children.
