Chapman University has been named to the 1992 John Templeton Foundation Honor Roll for Free Enterprise Teaching, which recognizes the schools with curricula in two particular fields.

Each year, the John Templeton Foundation polls the presidents and academic deans of more than 1,300 accredited institutions nationwide. The respondents are asked to name schools that exemplify teaching the values of Western civilization and a free-market economy.

Chapman officials said it was named to the honor roll in recognition of the school’s nationally renowned economic forecasts.

Chapman was one of 114 schools named to the honor roll. Other institutions selected include Stanford University, the University of Chicago and Hillsdale College in Michigan.

The John Templeton Foundation commissions the honor roll to help parents, students and philanthropists identify schools that maintain an orientation toward principles, values and traditions they share.

This month, the foundation will release a report describing how each school earned a nomination to the honor roll.

Chapman University is an independent university that for 131 years has offered values-centered education in the liberal arts and professional studies.
