California IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : 5 Newspapers Picked to Witness Execution
The state Department of Corrections selected five newspapers that may send a reporter to witness the April 21 execution of Robert Alton Harris. The Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle and Marin Independent-Journal were named to the pool of news media for the execution. Two additional newspapers will be selected by lottery. The selections were made by the state after a media organization in Sacramento, the Capitol Correspondents Assn., declined to pick the newspapers.
