Retired Policemen to Moderate Radio’s ‘Family Forum’

Family therapist Greg Cynaumon, a retired Anaheim police officer, has been named host of “Family Forum,” a 15-minute daily radio program on KBRT.

The Anaheim resident will concentrate on his views of family issues.

Cynaumon, author of “Single Parent . . . Troubled Kids,” is director of clinical relations for the Minirth-Meier Clinic West in Newport Beach.

San Clemente resident Cheryl Randolph was recently inducted as a member of the Cal State Dominguez Hills Statewide Nursing Honor Society, which fosters high professional standards and encourages creativity and leadership in nursing.

Cypress College students Scott Dellegatte of Cypress, Timothy Carter of Cerritos and Andrew Fu of Chino Hills won gold medals in the automotive category at the recent California Regional Skills Olympics at Mt. San Antonio College. They will compete May 2 in the state Vocational Skills Olympics.

Tutor certificates were presented to 25 graduates of the Fullerton affiliate of the Literacy Volunteers of America at the Fullerton Public Library.

They will be assigned on a one-to-one basis with students who need instruction in basic reading or in English as a second language.

Graduates are Muriel Berman, Lisa Blanchette, Rosalie Gray, Mary Louise Hlavac, Betty Bond, Marsha DeGon, Debbie DeSpain, Maura Dickerson, Esther Flore, Robin Keyzers, Kay Miller, Dorothy O’Brien, Lolly Powell and Clea W. Souter, all from Fullerton.

Others are Penny Au, Neva Endsley, Leuren Haines and Kathy Zody, Brea; Doris Anderson and Flo Stenger, Yorba Linda; Bonnie Gomez and Carmen Mondeau, Anaheim; Patricia Palermo and Anne Turner, Placentia, and Patricia Togie, Fountain Valley.

Scott A. Gray, 15, who built a wooden play structure for kindergartners at Mariposa Elementary School in Brea as his community project, was awarded his Boy Scout Eagle Rank at a court of honor at the Brea Civic Center. Scott is a sophomore at Brea-Olinda High School.

The career center at Tustin High School was presented the 1992 Outstanding Career Guidance Award from the California Career Education Assn. The honor was accepted by Barbara Murrieta, career guidance technician for Tustin High. The school was cited for its programs for at-risk students and those who speak limited English, as well as a University of California outreach program to help minority and financially disadvantaged students enter college.

Brea resident Shirley Hosler has been named Woman of the Year by the Horizon Unlimited chapter of the American Business Women’s Assn. and is now a candidate for the group’s award as the top businesswoman of the year throughout the United States.

Hosler, an administrative secretary for Kirkhill Rubber Co. of Brea, is also president of the Brea Art Assn.

Ofelia Corona, 16, of La Habra was named Girl of the Year and Frank Macedo, 17, was named Boy of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club of La Habra at the annual youth awards dinner at the club.

The Sportsmanship Award went to Sonora High School student Manuel Zamora, last year’s Boy of the Year.

The two La Habra High School students will be honored in May at the Orange County Boys and Girls Club Awards Night.
