Pair Appointed to Agricultural Board

Gov. Pete Wilson has appointed retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Jim Limberg and nurseryman and horticulturist Gary Y. Hayakawa to four-year terms on the board of directors of the 32nd District Agricultural Assn., the policy-setting organization for the Orange County Fair and Exposition Center in Costa Mesa.

Lindberg, 73, is a resident of Corona del Mar and a real estate agent, and served in the Air Force for 30 years. He was affiliated with Dart Industries and served as executive director of the California Republican Party. He also served as a member of the board of directors of the California State University and Colleges.

He was foreman of the Orange County Grand Jury in 1987-89.

Hayakawa, 46, is an Irvine resident and president of the Three Star Nursery in Fountain Valley. He is past president of both the California Assn. of Nurserymen, Orange County branch, and the Nursery Growers Assn. of California.

Lindberg and Hayakawa replace Clinton M. Hoose of Corona del Mar, a director since 1972, and Nancy Dooley of El Toro, a director since 1984. The terms of Hoose and Dooley expired in January.

Members serve without pay.
