Philip Doyle kicked a 42-yard field goal with two seconds to go in regulation, lifting the Birmingham Fire to a 17-17 tie with the London Monarchs at Wembley, England. The tie was the first in the two-year history of the World League. At Frankfurt, Scott Erney threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Tony Moss with less than three minutes to play to cap a 20-17 comeback victory by the Barcelona Dragons over the Frankfurt Galaxy. At Sacramento, Jim Gallery’s 28-yard field goal with 6:12 to play in overtime lifted the San Antonio Riders past the Sacramento Surge, 23-20.
