CAMARILLO : Hill Aviation to Move From Chatsworth

An aircraft parts manufacturer is moving to Camarillo from Chatsworth and may expand its staff after economic conditions improve, company officials said.

Hill Aviation Logistics has received approval from the Camarillo Planning Commission to erect a two-story industrial building at Flynn Road and Calle Tecate.

The company, which also distributes aircraft parts, will build an 18,081-square-foot building on a one-acre parcel.

The small company now is headquartered in a 15,000-square-foot building in Chatsworth.

Martha Groszewski, controller for Hill Aviation, said the company will bring its 25 employees to the new site and hopes to expand staff and operations once the recession lifts.

“It’s our intent to build a facility to allow us to grow,” Groszewski said.

The permit approval comes at a time when city officials say they would like to fill vacant industrial buildings.

But Groszewski said the company would rather build its own facility than move into existing space.

The Hill Aviation move comes on the heels of two Camarillo plant closings announced in recent months.

3M Photodyne Products plans to either lay off or transfer to Austin, Tex., 50 employees by June 30, and Everest Jennings International Ltd. will lay off 450 workers by this summer.
