Dataproducts Corp. said Irvin W. Maloney, its president and chief operating officer, has been elected to the additional post of chief executive.

Maloney succeeds Jack C. Davis, who remains the company’s chairman.

Dataproducts, a Woodland Hills-based maker of computer printers, is a unit of a venture between two affiliates of Hitachi Ltd. of Japan.
