3-D Systems Inc. said it plans a shareholder vote on whether the Canadian-based company should reincorporate in the United States.

3-D’s main operating unit is 3D Systems in Valencia, where the company makes machines that employ chemicals, a laser and a computer to rapidly produce plastic-like models of industrial equipment and other products.

The parent company, based in Vancouver, B.C., said it plans a stockholders’ meeting in June to decide whether 3-D should reincorporate in California or Delaware. The company’s stock already trades on the U.S. over-the-counter market.
