Earth Summit

Despite the growing body of evidence suggesting that a global environmental catastrophe is no longer in the realm of science fiction, the Bush Administration continues to bury its collective head in the sand.

Instead of demonstrating some responsible leadership, the United States continues to block any meaningful progress toward balancing development pressures with environmental constraints.

With the unprecedented Earth Summit coming up this June, President Bush remains firmly uncommitted to attending. Unless enough pressure is brought by the electorate, the Administration can continue to sandbag this vital process of multilateral negotiations.

I urge people to give President Bush a long overdue wake-up call by sending a telegram and/or by writing or calling directly to the White House. It is truly the least we can do.
