SANTA PAULA : Robber Takes Bank Customer’s Deposit

Share

A robber escaped with $1,800 from a Santa Paula branch of the Bank of America after he scooped the cash from the counter where a customer was counting out a deposit, Santa Paula police said Tuesday.

The man, who operated alone, threatened to shoot anyone who interfered before he fled on foot, Santa Paula Police Sgt. Gary Marshall said.

No weapon was seen and no getaway vehicle was spotted, he said.

If he is caught, the man will be charged with bank robbery, Special Agent Gary Auer of the FBI’s Ventura office said. “The department’s counsel said that as long as the bank had some or all of the money in their possession, it’s bank robbery,” Auer said.
