SAN DIEGO : No Venue Change for Accused Officer
A judge turned down defense requests Tuesday to move the trial of former San Diego Police Officer Henry Hubbard out of the county because of publicity about the series of seven beach attacks he is accused of committing.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Herbert Exarhos told Hubbard’s attorney, Kerry Steigerwalt, he could renew the change of venue motion again before the trial, scheduled for June 29.
Hubbard, 30, faces 38 felony charges in connection with a series of rapes, assaults, shootings, kidnaping, and robberies of people on beaches from La Jolla to Solana Beach.
