Charlie Spoonhour left Southwest Missouri State after nine seasons to become coach at St. Louis University, a school that last appeared in the NCAA tournament in 1957. Spoonhour, 52, signed a multiyear contract reportedly worth more than $250,000 per year, more than twice what his predecessor, Rich Grawer, was paid.
