Alhambra : Cultural Awareness Plans

Share

As part of a legal settlement, the City Council on Monday approved spending $40,000 to increase city employees’ cultural awareness.

The council selected low bidder Southwest Communication Resources of San Diego to survey employee attitudes, hold cultural diversity seminars for employees and train city staff to run seminars for other employees.

The U.S. Department of Justice sued the city in 1990, alleging a pattern of discrimination in its police and fire departments.

The city denied the charges but agreed to an out-of-court settlement last year that included cultural awareness programs and other measures.
