Malfunction Causes Cox to Go Off Air

Share

Television service was interrupted Wednesday night for hundreds of thousands of Cox Cable viewers.

A malfunction at 8:15 p.m. blacked out service for many of Cox’s 325,000 customers and reduced the number of channels received by others, Cox spokeswoman Sandy Murphy said.

The loss of service was caused by a blowout of circuit breakers at Cox’s main transmitting center on Cowles Mountain.

Most of the system was back up and functioning by 9:40 p.m., Murphy said, and the company expected to restore the rest of service a short time later.

Cox Cable serves a wide region south of Interstate 8 and Poway.
