IBM Unveils Plans for Pen Computers

International Business Machines said it will start selling a portable computer controlled by writing on its screen with a special pen.
The announcement, which was expected, coincided with the release of special software for pen-based computers created by a start-up firm backed by IBM.
Big Blue said its new ThinkPad machine will be available at first only to software developers and major corporate customers so they could begin writing programs for it.
