South O.C. Chamber of Commerce Seeks Head:...
South O.C. Chamber of Commerce Seeks Head: A countywide search for a new executive director is being conducted by the South Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
The business group is looking to replace Barbara Vaughn, who resigned this week for personal reasons after five months as chamber director.
Vaughn, 45, said the demands of the job cut into care for her 21-month-old daughter. “I’m 45 years old, and the only baby I’ll ever have is growing up fast,” she said. “Chamber work is the most rewarding I’ve ever done, but the demands of my commitment have caused considerable sacrifice to my family.”
Vaughn, who previously worked as a financial consultant, will continue to serve the chamber in an advisory capacity.
Chamber President Bob Lay supported her decision and praised her short tenure as productive. In recent months, the regional organization has established five affiliated chambers in South County and launched a regional economic development council.
