BURBANK : Holocaust Items to Be Displayed

Share

Photographs, letters and diaries depicting the Holocaust--the killing of millions of Jews by the Nazi government of Germany during World War II--will be on display at the main branch of the Burbank Public Library this month.

The display, organized by the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Council, documents the event through personal items borrowed from local Holocaust victims, spokeswoman Ellie Somerfield said.

Newspaper articles and books are also a part of the display, as well as a yellow cloth star that Jews were forced to wear in Nazi-governed countries.

The library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd., has presented the display for six years, Somerfield said.

Recently, the city of Burbank declared the period from April 26 to May 3 as “Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust.”
