ACTON : Planners Approve 75-Home Project

Share

Members of the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission unanimously approved a 75-house development near Acton on Thursday, saying their past concerns about the project’s effect on the rural surroundings had been addressed.

The houses will be spaced out over 160 acres, most of them on lots of one to 11 acres so that they blend in better with the area’s country character. Developer DKY Co. also agreed to create horse and hiking trails around the project to provide riders and hikers access to the Big Mountain Ridge.

Only one nearby homeowner objected to the project, saying it would create too much traffic, which would cause noise and air pollution. But representatives of the Acton Town Council said the developer’s agreement to pay for road improvements in the area satisfied those concerns for them. The project must still be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
