Coloradans Perturbed Over Influx of ‘Hollywood Types’
- Share via
On March 22, your Hot Property column contained information about Oprah Winfrey, a show biz figure, and her sudden attraction for property in the Telluride, Colo., area. Two weeks before that, the column ran a story about Sylvester Stallone buying property in the same area. What is going on? Can’t their people stay put? Why are these people infiltrating Colorado? Are people from Colorado breaking their necks to buy up California or Illinois properties?
So, Oprah likes to ski! Great! Is Colorado the only place on earth one can ski? People like Goldie Hawn, Jack Nicholson, Don Johnson and now Stallone and Winfrey, and other “Hollywood types” raise the cost of properties for Colorado natives who, in turn, cannot afford to purchase properties in their own native state!
What’s more, many of us don’t want the influence exerted by these show biz types. We felt lucky to be far away from the “nouveau riche and famous.” So, what is happening? They are coming here! I am furious about this. Look what these people’s presence has done to a formerly beautiful little hamlet, Aspen. Let’s stop the Californication of Colorado, people! Haven’t they ever heard of Utah?
