Sunday Newspaper Closing: The Sunday Sun newspaper is closing because of declining circulation and advertising revenue. The Sunday Sun had continued to operate after its sister publication, the daily Sun, closed Dec. 10. But Sun Newspapers managing director Frank Moore said the recession had taken its toll on the Sunday paper too. “Cost cutting and competition in the market have resulted in a loss of circulation which, when combined with the loss of advertising revenue, has made the continued publication of the Sunday Sun not economically viable,” Moore said.
