Finance Minister Reappointed: Prime Minister Suchinda Kraprayoon formed a Cabinet that is expected to continue Thailand’s traditionally pro-West economic and foreign policies. Technocrat Suthee Singhasaneh, 63, who was finance minister in the interim government the military appointed after its February, 1991, coup, was reappointed. Suchinda has said he will concentrate on economic issues, including a severe drought in the northeast, and added that Thailand will continue seeking good relations with all countries. Suchinda concurrently serves as defense minister. The reappointment of Suthee, a U.S.-educated accountant who is a veteran of more than 20 years of civil service, was praised in financial circles. He will be holding the portfolio for the third time.
