A Few Recipes for Lemonade in This Imperfect World

The (Dianne Klein, April 12) column on the missed birthday party was very interesting because it points out the many ways to deal with adversity.

In personal matters and in business, I always remember the old saying, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”

Having read your column for quite a while now, something tells me that you did not give us the whole story.

I firmly believe that you told your daughter that she and her friend could now have their own private birthday party and that the gift would stand out forever because it would be opened all by itself instead of with a pile of other gifts.

And just think, your daughter’s friend gets two birthdays instead of one!
