Arledge Surgery: ABC News President Roone Arledge is scheduled to undergo surgery for prostate cancer today at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Friends said Arledge, 60, has been aware of the pending surgery for several weeks but declined to go public so his 83-year-old mother wouldn’t worry in the meantime. An ABC spokeswoman said Tuesday the cancer was detected very early so “surgery is all the treatment he will require and doctors expect a full recovery.” Arledge is expected to be involved as soon as possible in ABC’s day-to-day activities, holding business meetings in his Manhattan apartment.
