Share

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to set aside $400,000 in federal funding for career and credit counseling programs for laid-off aerospace workers.

The money would be used to pay two private contractors to assist workers from both the Northrop Corp., which is laying off more than 4,000 workers, and Rockwell International, which is laying off 500 employees.

The two contractors--Tomkinson & Associates and Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Los Angeles--previously helped workers laid off by General Dynamics under another county contract.
