Rich and Poor

Share

I am becoming increasingly alarmed at the disparity between rich and poor. While so many of our politicians complain about the “welfare problem,” the real problem is a gross imbalance between the working poor and rich corporations and individuals who are not paying their fair share of taxes.

I wonder whether Gov. Pete Wilson has considered three more important, more humane options than his present plan to punish the poor by cutting funds to AFDC. These options are tax equity, welfare reform and poverty reduction. Making the poor even poorer will only lead to more dire social problems that affect rich and poor alike.
