Pop Album Chart : Springsteen Losing His Touch

Share

Kris Kross, the young Atlanta rap duo that has come from nowhere to become one of the dominant acts on the pop scene, is hotter than veteran Bruce Springsteen. In its third week on the Billboard magazine pop album chart, the pair’s “Totally Krossed Out” inched up one notch to No. 2, nosing out Springsteen’s “Human Touch” (No. 3); Springsteen’s “Lucky Town” dropped from No. 4 to No. 11. The big attraction of Kris Kross’ album is the single “Jump,” which is the No. 1 pop single for the second straight week. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” continues to be red hot, even after 30 weeks on the chart, bounding from No. 11 to No. 5.

* ZZ Top entered the pop chart with a bang at No. 21, even though the album is a greatest-hits package. The added lure to fans, though, is two new songs: “Gun Love” and “Viva Las Vegas.”
