LA HABRA : Museum to Feature Indian Storyteller

American Indian storyteller Geri Keams will tell tales and relate myths and legends of various Indian tribes when she appears at the Children’s Museum at La Habra on Saturday afternoon.

In addition to telling such stories as “How We Got the Big Dipper” and “How the Coyote Lost His Fur,” Keams will demonstrate tribal chanting and singing. Audience participation will be encouraged.

Keams was born and reared on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. A graduate in drama from the University of Arizona, Keams appeared in the movie “The Outlaw Josey Wales” and recently on the television show “Northern Exposure.” She is also a published poet with her work featured in a number of anthologies.

Keams’ Saturday performance will begin at noon. Children’s Museum is at 301 S. Euclid St. Admission to the museum is $2.50 for senior citizens and those aged 2 through 16, and $3 for adults. For more information call (310) 905-9793.
