WAY BACK IN SADDLE: Long before Gene Autry became the disgruntled owner of the money-losing California Angels, he was happy at being known as a singing cowboy. On May 16, a host of country music stars, including Emmylou Harris and Clint Black, will perform at the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum in Los Angeles in a tribute to singing cowboys. Among the honorees: Roy Rogers, Rex Allen, Autry himself, and Sons of the Pioneers.
