From Staff and Wire Reports
Michigan Coach Jon Urbanchek and Texas women’s Coach Mark Schubert have emerged as leading candidates to replace retired USC swimming Coach Peter Daland.
Schubert, head women’s coach of the 1992 U.S. Olympic team, directed the most successful club program in American swimming history at Mission Viejo in the 1970s and his Texas teams won NCAA titles in 1990 and ’91.
Schubert said that he had spoken with USC Athletic Director Mike McGee and expressed interest in the job.
