Wendell L. Jarvis; Retired Police Officer

Wendell L. Jarvis, who worked as a Glendale policeman for 25 years, has died at a Glendale hospital. He was 65.

A Glendale resident, Jarvis died Wednesday of cancer, said his brother, Donald Jarvis of Glendale.

Born in West Hollywood, Wendell Jarvis graduated from Hoover High School. During World War II, he served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. After he was discharged, Jarvis worked briefly as a cement finisher for the city of Glendale before joining the police force in 1947. He served until his retirement in 1972. Jarvis then moved to Hemet, where he lived until returning to Glendale in 1990.

Jarvis, who once restored a Model A car, was past president of the Model A Club in Glendale.

He is survived by his brother. Jarvis’ wife, Karsien, died in 1990.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Mortuary, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills, is handling the arrangements.
